CROSSGATES lad Euan Burns is heading on a “holiday of a lifetime” to Florida thanks to charity Dreamflight.

Euan, 10, who has been recovering from leukaemia will be spending eight days in Orlando visiting Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, Sea World, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, and finally Discovery Cove where he will be swimming with dolphins.

Dunfermline paediatric nurse David Smith, a volunteer from Dreamflight, said: “Euan is very excited to go to Florida next month.

“He told me he’s most excited to go on the rollercoasters and see all the Magic Kingdom characters but he doesn’t want to go to the Frozen show!”

Each year, Dreamflight takes 192 deserving children from all over the UK, accompanied by a team of medical carers, board a chartered Boeing 747 and head to Florida.

Many children could not undertake such a trip without the support of the army of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and non-medical volunteers who care for the children 24 hours a day.

David said: “The holiday is an experience, a time to have fund and a chance for children like Euan to just be children.”

Dreamflight funds itself with the help of its volunteers. Dalgety Bay pub the Hillend Tavern have been part of the fundraising, with owners Mike and Francesca donating £200 for sponsored t-shirts the children will wearing on the magical trip.
