ADVENTURER Bear Grylls is supporting the Alpha Course that's coming to Beath and Cowdenbeath North Church.

Banners showing the explorer have appeared around the country this month with the tagline 'My greatest adventure', along with an invitation to watch his story at alpha.org.

Reverend David Redmayne, of Beath and Cowdenbeath North Church, explained: "Bear Grylls is giving his support to the Alpha Courses which will be starting soon throughout the land.

"As a Christian himself, Bear wants to encourage people to explore the Christian faith, which is what he describes as his 'greatest adventure' – and that’s even after all his daring expeditions which include the ascent of Mount Everest!

"Alpha, with its relaxed format, has proved for many thousands to be a great place to ask the deep questions of life we all find ourselves facing at some time in our lives – and exploring the place that faith has for us."

He continued: "An Alpha evening starts with a light meal and continues with a talk, now in the form of a beautifully made short film, and then gives time to ask and share questions and thoughts in a comfortable setting."

The course begins in Cowdenbeath on Tuesday October 4 at 7pm and will run every Tuesday for 10 weeks, with the option of a weekend event midway through the course.

The venue will be the church hall in Lochgelly Road.

There is no charge for Alpha although a small donation towards the cost of the meal is welcome. It is open to everyone.
