STEALING a bottle of fragrance resulted in a Cardenden man receiving a restriction of liberty order this week.

Mark Steel (41), of Muirtonhill Road, was told he was "very close" to a custodial sentence when he appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

He had earlier admitted stealing a bottle of fragrance from Debenhams in Dunfermline on 24th August this year and that the offence was commited while on bail.

Steel's defence agent said his client lived a "fairly chaotic" lifestyle and fully accepted his behaviour was unacceptable.

"He accepts that he is on a very, very, very thin line and knows if he continues to offend, he will go to custody," added the agent.

Sheriff Charles McNair told Steel he was "very, very close" to a custodial sentence but said he was prepared to impose a restriction of liberty order for six months.
