A MAJOR Fife route was closed following a five-vehicle crash near Lochgelly.

Police Scotland confirmed that the A92 was shut for more than an hour while emergency services dealt with the incident on Monday evening.

Officers were called at around 4.50pm and the road was cleared at 6.15pm, when one lane was re-opened.

Traffic Scotland estimated a delay of approximately 25 minutes to motorists during the closure.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 4.50pm on Monday, 15 May, to a report of a crash involving five vehicles on the A92 east of the Lochgelly Interchange.

"Recovery was arranged and the road was cleared around 6.15pm."

The Times understands that no serious injuries were sustained as a result of the crash.
