YOUNG people in Fife are being encouraged to get active this summer with a variety of free or reduced cost activities.

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, partnered with Fife Council, is offering swimming lessons, fun pool sessions, football, racket sports, giant inflatable, Kidz Camps and more during the school break.

Between July 1 and August 15 there will be Quid a Kid football and racket sports sessions from Monday to Sunday between 9am and 5pm, where children aged 17 and under can take part for £1, while adults can join in for £2.

'Splash for Nowt' sessions will also run during this period, Monday to Friday between 9am and 1pm.

There will also be Big Inflatable Takeovers, Bouncy Castle Drop-in sessions and Active Kidz Camps at selected venues to help children and young people make friends and keep active.

Emma Walker, Chief Executive for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: "Engaging young people in physical activities from an early age and nurturing a lifelong commitment to staying active is at the heart of the Trust's mission.

"Our summer holiday programme aims to inspire families in the region to enjoy an unforgettable season and embrace the rewards of an active lifestyle.

"There is a diverse range of activities on offer, including condensed swimming lessons for accelerated learning.

"Our programme offers fantastic opportunities for families to actively participate and create lasting memories in a summer filled with fun and active experiences.

"Join us and make the most of this amazing season!"

Linda Erskine, Fife Council spokesperson for Community and Leisure, added: "As a Council, we're committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of our communities and we want to help anyone, who is able, to get out and enjoy what's on our doorstep.

"That's why we continue to fund programmes, like this, which offer free or reduced-cost activities over the summer, to help keep children, young people and families active through the summer, without having to worry about affordability.

"We will be re-launching our GoFife summer activity programme shortly, in partnership with the community trusts - Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, OnFife, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust and the Golf Trust.

"The Go Fife website has proven to be very popular with families and individuals in the past, as it brings together a wealth of inspiration for fun, free and reduced-cost activities in Fife.

"Along with this offer from Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, there's something for everyone this summer."

Summer holiday activities are subject to venue programming and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
