A Cardenden butcher is celebrating triple success at a butcher awards.

Andrew Kirk Butchers, located at 140 Station Road, Cardenden, won three awards in this year's Scottish Craft Butchers Awards. The business won three Golds for their traditional steak pie, their steak pie with sausage, and their chicken, ham and leek pie. 

Andrew Kirk said: "To be recognised from people within our industry and food critics is a big honour but the biggest accolade is customers liking and enjoying our products.”

The shop in Cardenden will be celebrating its 10th anniversary next month and Andrew puts their success down to two things.

"We use quality ingredients; and we have got a good relationship with the same suppliers for the last ten years." He added.

The heats for the awards were held at Forth Valley College in September with more than 190 pies from throughout Scotland being judged. The judging panel consisted of experts, food writers and interested consumers. 

The event is organised by Scottish Craft Butchers in conjunction with The Dalesman Group and John Scott Meat Ltd.

The Scottish Craft Butcher Awards aim to encourage product innovation in Scotland's butcher sector.
