A 32-year-old man left a large knife sticking into a wooden pole next to a shop in Cardenden.
As a result, Zak Paterson, of Castle Rigg, Kinghorn, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on March 3 last year at Cardenden Road, Cardenden, he repeatedly struck a wooden post with a knife.
Depute fiscal Brogan Moffat said that at 7am a woman arrived to open up the shop where she worked.
A delivery driver was there and told her there was a large knife stuck into a wooden pole next to the shop.
She contacted the police and when CCTV was viewed it showed Paterson repeatedly stabbing at the pole with the knife.
Defence solicitor Heather Morrison said: “He’s well aware that custody is on the table given his record. He was intoxicated at the time and found the knife in the street.”
Sheriff Neil Bowie called for reports and Paterson will be sentenced on December 6.
