The curtain has fallen on Cowdenbeath Community Theatre’s (CCT) 20th anniversary pantomime production of Cinderella, which has been a great success, with two sold out performances and another with less than 15 seats left!

The Company performed a version of the show that was written by co-founder, the late Alex Wallace, for the Company’s first production back in 2001.

Chairperson Alex Keatings expressed his thanks not only to the public for supporting the show, but also to the production team, band, and stage crew, and Debbie Kelly her staff at the Lochgelly Centre Theatre for their support and technical expertise.

Following each performance there was an exit bucket collection in aid of the Victoria Hospice at Victoria Hospital in memory of Moira Neilson, who supported the Company tirelessly over the past 20 years, and who sadly passed away in early October this year.

The proceeds from the bucket collection will be supplemented by an additional fundraising concert to be held at Beath & Cowdenbeath North Church into the new year, hosted by CCT Chairperson Alex Keatings and CCT Musical Director Callum Paterson.

CCT were successful this year in bidding for funding from the National Lottery's Community Fund, and opted to use this to provide free tickets to Cinderella to local groups and schools for them to distribute to families who might otherwise be unable to attend a pantomime this year.

On behalf of the families who received free tickets, CCT thanked all the players of The National Lottery and the National Lottery Community Fund for enabling them to spread some Christmas cheer.

Each year, the production team present the Alex Wallace Memorial Trophy to the most improved child performer. This year they have decided to award the trophy to Piper Combe. Piper has become so much more confident over the past year. She was one of the dancers in this year's show and has helped backstage as well as helping other cast members practice routines.

This year, the production team decided to create a new award for the adults in the company. Named the 'To the Stars on the Stage from the Stars in the Sky' award, in memory of those members of the company who are sadly no longer with us, the first recipient was Reece Smith, who has also gained in confidence and became a minor principal this year. Reece brought so much enthusiasm to every rehearsal and always had a smile on his face.

Preparations will start soon for next year’s production which will be revealed in early January, on CCT’s social media pages.
