FIVE people were taken to hospital this morning (Friday) following a crash near Kelty. 

Emergency services were called to the M90 at around 6.35am following reports of a 'serious' one-car crash between Junctions 4 and 5. 

Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service were all in attendance. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving one vehicle which happened around 6.35am on Friday, 15 December, 2023 on the M90 between junction 4 and 5.

"Emergencies services attended and five people were taken to hospital for treatment.”

Three fire appliances attended the incident and firefighters worked to make the scene safe before departing. 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.44am on Friday, 15 December to reports of a road traffic collision on the M90, near Kelty, Fife.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, where firefighters were met by a collision involving one vehicle.

"Firefighters worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"Five casualties self-extricated from the vehicle prior to the arrival of crews before being transported to hospital by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel."

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) dispatched five resources to the scene.

A spokesperson for the SAS added: “We received a call today to attend a road traffic collision on the M90.

"We dispatched five resources to the scene, including our special operations team and transported two patients to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and three patients to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.”
