A food delivery driver brandished a knife during a street confrontation in Cardenden.

Abdul Moueed (20), of Station Road, Bowhill, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, having previously admitted that on June 15 at Cardenden Road, Cardenden he made threats of violence to a man and brandished a knife at him.

Depute fiscal Charlotte Allan said that at around 5pm a couple had left their home with their children when Moueed drove past.

He slowed down and shouted to the man, “You better watch. You’re f*****.”

The man asked Moueed if he was threatening him and he replied, “You’re getting it.”

The man then picked up his child’s scooter and threw it at Moueed’s car damaging the windscreen. Moueed got out of his car holding a large knife which he brandished towards the man.

The children were taken back into the house by their mum and Moueed drove off.

Moueed later returned to the street and a resident told him he had the earlier incident on CCTV.

Moueed claimed it was “self defence”. He was later tracked down by police at the family take-away business where he works.

Defence solicitor Christine Hagan said her client had “expressed remorse and allowed emotions to take over.”

“There had been an earlier road traffic incident and allegations in the community about his driving,” she added.

There had been a chef’s knife left in the car and it was this which he had picked up.

“It wasn’t taken there intentionally,” said the solicitor.

Sheriff Susan Duff imposed a community payback order with 108 hours of unpaid work.
