Three projects in the Cardenden area have received their share of just over £4,000 from a community grant.

The Ventient Westfield Wind Farm Community Fund was launched in 2014 and supports good causes that benefit residents of the Cardenden Community Council area.

The three beneficiaries from the latest round of awards were Ore Valley Tenants Association, Auchterderran Kinglassie Parish Church and Bowhill Rovers A.F.C.

The tenants association received £1,450 to enhance wellbeing by improving the communal garden and paying for a Christmas party.

Auchterderran and Kinglassie Parish Church was given £1,692 towards the cost of installing a partition wall to create a private meeting space. This will allow residents to benefit from confidential advice and support services.

And Bowhill Rovers got £1,000 which will get the ball rolling on their purchase of a new lawnmower.

A resident from Ore Valley Tenants Association said: “We are grateful for the funding received from Westfield and Foundation Scotland, and we were able to use this award to empower us to enhance our communal garden.

"This is allowing us to get a stronger sense of community and environmental stewardship.

“In addition to cultivating our communal garden, the funding allowed us to organise an unforgettable Christmas party in 2023, bringing joy to our tenants during the festive season.”

Since it was launched in 2014 the fund has issued 98 grants.

Grants of up to £2,000 are available again this year, the next application deadline is Friday, March 8.
