WEST FIFERS donned their masks on Saturday as they gathered at a Dunfermline store for Free Comic Book Day.

Cosplayers and customers alike headed along to Little Shop of Heroes on Maygate to bag themselves a free comic or two.

Many chose to wield their lightsabers for the event, as Free Comic Book Day fell on May 4, which was also Star Wars Day.

Alby Grainger, who runs the store alongside his wife Louise and daughter Sinéad, told the Press: "We had a queue from 10 in the morning and the queue was from our shop down to the corner until about half past 3. It was a lot of people, that’s a lot of free comics! "

Despite ordering thousands of comics, and some extra for the younger comic book fans, Alby said his supplies are almost depleted.

And while cosplay wasn't mandatory, those who did go the extra mile were rewarded with an extra free comic.

Alby continued: "Loads of people turned out in Cosplay, it was mostly younger people this time.

"The effort was fantastic, the quality of the cosplay was great and they had a fantastic time, so yeah, it was a very good turnout and a very good day.

"It’s nice to see a smile on people’s faces and it's nice to have positive energy. It was a really very positive, uplifting day."
