THE big derby saw Kelty Hearts win for the seventh successive East Super League game to maintain their place at the top of the table.

And in the South Division Lochgelly Albert won on the road to move into second top spot.

Hill of Beath Hawthorn 2,

Kelty Hearts 5.

A CONVINCING win for Hearts in the big derby which was marred by some crowd disturbance late in the game.

Hill of Beath Hawthorn were giving a good account of themselves until Adam Moffat was given a red card with just 25 minutes left.

Hearts had carried the edge in possession and they turned up the pressure on the ten men and got the safety goals they were looking for with new signing Jordan Moore getting a double.

The early stages of the game were pretty tight but it was the home team who went in front when Aaron Hay was in the perfect place to net after the ball broke to him off the 'keeper.

Hearts were soon back looking for a goal but a couple of close things came to nothing and then Conrad Courts produced a superb finish to square the game.

There was a chance for Kelty to go ahead when Scott Dalziel went down in a challenge with Haws' 'keeper Stuart Hall but the 'keeper saved the striker's penalty.

Level at the break it was all to play for, but Hearts went in front when Conrad Courts repeated his finish, this time with a first time shot.

The Moffat incident came after 65 minutes in an incident near the visiting dug out and the key third goal came when Stuart Cargill took advantage of a slip by the Haws' defence to net.

The ten men were still battling away, but Hearts were dominating possession and the fourth came when Moore, who had just come on for Kelty, hit an amazing strike which gave Hall no chance.

Hearts were on cruise control now and got number five late on when Moore struck from close in.

Before that though Kelty fans came on to the pitch and the referee had to stop the game for several minutes. Haws will be reporting the incident to the league committee.

Haws boss Bobby Wilson was very disappointed that again his team had to play for a long spell a man short.

He said: “We competed well in the first-half but losing Adam when we did was too much to handle.

“Playing the top of the table with eleven is difficult enough but with ten it is a big struggle.

“We simply half to learn that losing our discipline is going to make winning games difficult.”

The result keeps Hearts tree points clear at the top of the table.

Dundonald Bluebell 1,

Brought Athletic 2.

A DISAPPOINTING result for Bluebell who found the top four Super League side difficult opponents.

However, the Moorsiders got the best possible start with a goal from Lewis McKenzie who latched onto a Greg Meikle assist.

The Dundee side fought back and James Lennox saved well from one really good shot and then at the other end Paul Quinn brought out a fine save from the Athletic 'keeper.

The leveller came soon after when Paul McDonald committed a foul in the box and the penalty was converted.

Just before the break Quinn should have put Bluebell in front but he delayed his shot and the chance was lost then just after half-time McKenzie pulled his shot wide from a great position.

Dundonald were right in this game but midway through the half the visitors grabbed a second goal with the home defence caught out.

Bluebell kept at it and Lewis Gray should have levelled but shot wide from close in and then Meikle shot over after the 'keeper spilled Ross Drummond's shot.

Bluebell need a win soon to get clear of the danger area.

Rosyth Recreation 0,

Lochgelly Albert 2.

THE Albert moved into second top spot in the South Division with this excellent win over the Recreation.

The openings stages were very close and neither 'keeper was really asked to perform heroics although the Berts probably could argue they had the better of possession.

A blank scoreline at the break maybe was not a surprise, but in the second period Lochgelly started to control things.

The Rosyth 'keeper made three great saves from 25 yard range Lochgelly efforts and for a spell the visiting faithful would have been concerned that the opener was never going to come.

Then, with sub Jack Wilson on, who is on loan from Kelty Hearts, things really started to happen for Hearts and Wilson provided the pass, after a nice run, to give Craig Paterson the chance to shoot home from close in.

And within minutes the sub was at it again and this time he set up Lewis Elder who netted and that gave them the safety goal.

When Rosyth were reduced to ten men late on that ended their challenge.

Blackburn's 6-3 win at then leaders Pumpherston and the win over Rosyth puts Berts second top and sets them up for a visit to West Lothian this weekend.

Edinburgh United 3,

Crossgates Primrose 3.

PRIMROSE went to the captital and came back with a fighting point from a team which lies in the top half of the table.

United had much the better of the first period and grabbed and early lead.

Crossgates were not posing the hosts any problems at all and when United went two up things were looking bleak for the Humbuggers.

Then when Edinburgh scored a third after the break it looked all over.

But the young Crossgates lads rolled their sleeves up and they got one back from a good finish from Ally Campbell before a second goal from Jamie McNeill started to ask questions of United's resolve.

They were struggling now the home side and the leveller came from McNeill and Primrose could even have gone on to win it but the point keeps them mid-table.

Lochore Welfare 1,

Luncarty 4.

WELFARE found top five North Division wide Luncarty just too strong for them.

The Perthshire side attacked strongly from the kick-off but Lochore's defence is made of much sterner stuff these days and with goalkeeper Gary Inglis in form any early goals did not materialise.

Lochore did have a couple of half chances and to o in at the break level was a decent return for the home side.

They started the second period well and Callum Easson grabbed a goal for them things looked bright but Luncarty came right back at them and squared the game.

After that it was all about the visitors and once they took the lead the Welfare were struggling.

Two late goals sealed the win and leaves Lochore level bottom of the table with three other sides.

Lochore boss Andy Healy was a bit disappointed at time up: “There is no doubt the better team won.

“Gary Inglis kept us in it in the first period and we started the second period well but once they got in front we were struggling.”
