Students from a Lochgelly dance school will be jetting off to Prague to take part in this year’s Dance World Cup.

Romi Clarke Dance students auditioned to represent Team Scotland at the event back in November last year. The following month they found out that all nine girls who auditioned had qualified.

Speaking of the dancers, Romi Clarke, dance school owner, said: “They’re absolutely buzzing, and me, I’m also buzzing, but yeah they are high as kites.

“It’s a massive thing for a dance school so young, and even myself, I only opened the dance school when I was 19 and I’m now 25, so I sort of just grew, as well as me seeing the kids grow up. I feel like they’ve seen me grow up, so we’ve all done it together.”

The dance school had its sixth anniversary in November last year.

The World Cup takes place from June 27 to July 6. The age range of the dancers is from seven to 12 years old, and they will be performing in the lyrical and acro dance categories.

“It’s amazing, it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever tried to do and especially with the dance school being so young it’s a massive achievement, so it’s amazing," added Romi.

“I’ve had most of them to be fair as soon as the dance school opened, so I’ve had majority of them since they were about three or four, so yeah, a long time.”
