COWDENBEATH will look to take three points from Lowland League bottom side, Edinburgh University, this Saturday, to make it four games undefeated, and increase their momentum as the run-in to the season’s end gathers pace.

Saturday’s draw with Stirling University took them on to 37 points, and a win over the Edinburgh side would take Cowden into the 40s and give them the base to stride into the top half of the table, in their remaining six games.

Cowden boss Calum Elliot was pleased with the way his team kept working away hard, despite being reduced to ten men for the past 25 minutes, and taking a point from a side which has been producing good results in the division.

“I felt we opened the game really well, and in the first 10 or 15 minutes we could have been two goals up, but we were caught out just before half-time,” he said.

“However, we started the second period well and equalised, but we went behind again, although there was no letting up and got level.

“Losing Jack Denham was a blow, but we kept going at them and there were chances to win the game, with the lads battling hard right to the end as we fought to get the key third goal.”

On the down side the manager was disappointed with both goals conceded.

Now he is looking forward to the away game with Edinburgh University this Saturday.

“They will set out to make things difficult for us," said Elliot. "But if we maintain the chance creation levels displayed against Stirling, and stick a few more away, we can get the win we want.”

Forward Zack Butterworth had to go off early in the Stirling Uni game, as did defender Andy Rodden, so Cowden could well be a couple of players light for this weekend.
