SATURDAY will be a big day at Central Park when Cowdenbeath entertain Berwick Rangers in the Lowland League.

Organised by the Cowdenbeath Independent Supporters Society, the day is for all Cowdenbeath supporters, old, current and new, to attend this game alongside ex-players and managers.

And with schools being involved, it is hoped that a new generation of Blue Brazil fans will be created.

Among those former players set to be attending are former striker Graeme Brown; midfielders Colin Scott and Neil Irvine; defenders Richard Baillie and Innes Ritchie; midfielder Craig Winter; full-back Keith Ferguson; manager of the 1992 promotion winning team John Brownlie; striker Graeme Buckley, full-back David Watt; goalkeeper Billy Lamont; linkmen Gus Malone, John Wright and Billy Bennett; utility man Hugh Douglas; centre-half Eric Archibald; left-back Sandy Robertson; midfielder-defender Barry; McMahon; striker Willie Syme; centre-back Dave McGovern; midfielders Gary Fusco and Colin McCullie; and striker Gareth Wardlaw.

The ex-players will be welcomed on to the pitch at half time, and then to Wee Jimmies, on High Street, which is booked for them to come together after the game.

The CISS’s Gordon Anderson said: “We are also encouraging local schools to attend, and a large number from the Blue Brazil Boys Football Club are also planning to attend.

“There is also a group of players who would have loved to join us, but are unable due to their own football commitments, but they are planning to come to meet with their former team mates after the game. This includes Darren McGregor, Pat Scullion, Bryan Gilfillan, Jon Roberson and Mark Baxter, plus Liam Buchanan and Dougie Hill, will be represented at the game as players for Berwick Rangers.”

The CISS hope that there will be a crowd close to 1,000 at the game, as Cowden seek to move into the top half of the Lowland League with a win.
