INTERIM Cowdenbeath boss Stevie Crawford was delighted with the Blue Brazil’s performance at Linlithgow and is looking for more of the same this Saturday at Cumbernauld Colts.

The Colts are sitting fifth in the Lowland League table, 13 points ahead of Cowden, but have taken only six points from their past five games.

However, the Blue Brazil are only four points behind seventh top Stirling University, so there is plenty for Cowden to play for at Cumbernauld, with three games left in the season.

Crawford, who has stepped in to replace Calum Elliot for the last four games of the campaign, said: “It was an unsettled week for the team losing Calum, but they produced a really good team performance.

“Jamie Docherty took his goal well, which won the game, and it was created by an excellent move involving several players.

“The quality of our performance was underlined by Linlithgow making four changes at half-time, but we stood up to the challenge well.

“If there was to be one down side to things, it would be that maybe we could have worked their ‘keeper more after creating some good openings, but it was a good overall performance.”

Crawford was pleased with the way the team defended throughout the game and he is looking for more of that against Cumbernauld Colts.

“We fully earned the shut-out, but we know that we will have to produce a similar quality of defending at Cumbernauld, against a team who have had a good season,” added the manager.

“They have racked up 16 league wins, which shows that they have developed a winning habit, but it is up to us to go there and produce the same form which earned the win at Linlithgow.”

Crawford had only 14 fit players at Linlithgow, but boosted the bench line-up by getting three trialists for the game, and he is hopeful that he will have a similar squad for the match at Cumbernauld.
